| The founders of Focus Radiology realized that workplace practices in radiology that were inhibiting service excellence were grounded in dysfunctional cultures that were inimical to improvement and were part and parcel of almost a century of out-dated analogue technology.
We
saw the convergence of increased computing power and the
commercialization of IT systems in radiology to produce PACS systems as
the means by which a redesign in workflow could accompany the necessary
cultural change leading to an emphasis on service excellence.
We were conscious of the fact that at the end of the day, radiology
will always remain a people business. Any IT system must be an enabler
of this philosophy. The end result is efficiencies in patient treatment
and diagnosis, more rapid distribution of results and images and
therefore greater patient and referrer satisfaction.
